Giffords doctors to attend Obama speech

WASHINGTON, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Members of Gabrielle Giffords' medical team will sit in the Capitol for the State of the Union address, her spokesman said Monday.

C.J. Karamargin told ABC News Drs. Randall Friese, Michael Limole and Peter Rhee of Tucson's University Medical Center and nurse Tracy Culbert will attend President Barack Obama's speech Tuesday.

The medical team treated the Arizona congresswoman from when she was shot Jan. 8 until she was flown to Houston Friday.

Culbert, who was aboard the flight, told ABC: "I have a lot of hope for her and know she's going to do great. She's a very strong woman and you can just see it."

Daniel Hernandez, an intern who rushed to Giffords' aid, will also attend the speech, as previously reported. Tuesday will be his 21st birthday.
