Ex-escort to plead guilty, lawyer says

DETROIT, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- A young woman who worked for a Miami Companions call center in Panama before becoming a porn star has agreed to plead guilty, her lawyer said Wednesday.

David Nacht told The Detroit News his client, Nayubet Swaso, 24, is more victim than criminal.

"My client is a woman who was victimized from a young age," Nacht said. "She was enticed into working for a criminal enterprise without realizing it. And then things picked up from there."

Nacht would not comment on how long a prison sentence Swaso can expect to receive once she pleads guilty or whether she has agreed to cooperate in the federal investigation into Greg Carr, described by prosecutors as the mastermind of a Miami-based sex ring. Prosecutors filed an information in federal court saying Swaso convinced a young woman identified only as "Stephanie" to travel to the Detroit area for purposes of prostitution.

Swaso was abandoned in Panama by an aunt and uncle who had persuaded her to move there. She learned of Miami Companions through an ad, went to work in the call center, became an escort and later appeared in pornographic movies under the name Sierra Sanchez.

Two other women who formerly worked for Miami Companions face sentences of no more than a year when they are sentenced.

Carr is scheduled to go on trial in March.
