Obama condemns attacks in Yemen

WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. President Obama Saturday strongly condemned recent attacks by al-Qaida fighters that left more than a dozen Yemeni security personnel dead.

John Brennan, assistant to the president, called Yemeni President Ali Abdallah Saleh to relay Obama's personal condolences regarding the deaths attributed to attacks in the past two days by al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula.
