Body in suitcase found on N.Y. sidewalk

NEW YORK, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- A New York pedestrian made a grim discovery early Wednesday of the body of a woman stuffed into a suitcase and left on a Harlem sidewalk, police said.

The body was found around 12:15 a.m. on East 114th Street, across from Thomas Jefferson Park when the passerby spotted a leg sticking out of the suitcase, the New York Daily News reported.

The woman, thought to be black and in her 20s or 30s, was fully clothed.

She reportedly had a head injury but authorities said the medical examiner's office would determine the cause of death.

Police haven't released the woman's identity, the Daily News reported.
