Soldier admits raping Army wife

FORT BRAGG, N.C., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- A soldier stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina admitted Wednesday he raped an Army wife, saying he threatened to kill her and her two children.

Army Spc. Aaron Pernell pleaded guilty to rape, aggravated sexual contact and other charges, the Fayetteville (N.C.) Observer reported. A military judge was weighing his guilt on two counts of burglary and housebreaking after Pernell entered not guilty pleas and waived his right to a jury.

Pernell could receive a sentence of life with no parole.

He told the court he broke into a house, and told the woman she had "three options." The first two required her to perform sexual services.

"Option three was that her and her family could die," Pernell told Col. Gary Brockington.

Investigators suspect Pernell worked with another man, but he took sole responsibility for the assault. He faces civilian charges involving assaults and break-ins in Hoke County and Fayetteville.
