CORVALLIS, Ore., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Arson materials have been seized from a home near an Oregon mosque that was set afire last weekend, authorities said.
Corvallis, Ore., police took propane containers, cameras and a lighter from the home of Cody Crawford, 24, The (Portland) Oregonian reported. Officers later took DNA and chemical swabs from Crawford, but he has not been arrested.
The Sunday morning arson at the Salman Alfarisi Islamic Center is being investigated for links to the arrest of Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, a former student at Oregon State University in Corvallis in an alleged terrorist plot in Portland.
Mohamud has pleaded not guilty after being arrested Nov. 26 in an alleged attempt to detonate a van supposedly full of explosives near crowded Pioneer Courthouse Square.
Crawford came under suspicion when he told police his flashlight had been stolen, the search warrant said. When police showed him a picture of a flashlight found near the mosque, he said it was his.
In addition to the gasoline, lighter and cameras, officers took computers, digital memory cards, a propane burner tip, plastic bottles, a small wire with burned fibers, a white powder and a gas can, the newspaper said.
