WASHINGTON, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- U.S. Rep. John Boehner, the incoming House speaker, described a Democratic move Thursday to limit the extension of the Bush tax cuts as "chicken crap."

Republicans described the vote as an attempt to derail negotiations on a tax compromise, Politico reported. The party wants to extend the entire Bush tax package while Democrats say taxes should be increased for those with incomes of more than $250,000.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said there was no way the House bill could get through the upper house, The Hill reported.

Boehner, R-Ohio, had his own take in a talk with reporters at the Capitol.

"I'm trying to catch my breath so I don't refer to this maneuver going on today as chicken crap, all right, but this is nonsense! We're 23 months from the next election and the political games have already started trying to set up the next election," Boehner said.
