Two-and-a-half year-old Angelyn Ogdoc, of Falls Church, Va., was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital in critical condition Monday evening after falling an estimated 50 feet to the pavement below the outdoor walkway at the Tysons Corner Center in McLean, Va., The Washington Post reported.

She died of her injuries early Tuesday morning, the newspaper said.

The initial charges against Dela Rosa will likely be upgraded to manslaughter or murder, Fairfax County police officer Tawny Wright said.

Police said Dela Rosa, Angelyn and other family members were walking to the parking garage from the shopping mall on an elevated walkway when, "for an unknown reason," Dela Rosa allegedly picked up the child and threw her over the guardrail.
