3 young Michigan brothers missing

MORENCI, Mich., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Authorities searched unsuccessfully Saturday for three young brothers missing in Michigan for two days.

Police said they had issued an Amber Alert for Andrew Ryan Skelton, 9, Alexander William Skelton, 7, and Tanner Lucas Skelton, 5, the Detroit Free Press reported.

The three siblings were last seen Thursday in their father's back yard in Morenci. The father, John Skelton, 39, tried to hang himself Friday, police said.

The father, described by a family friend as a truck driver, told investigators he had handed over his sons to a woman he had met a few years ago to return them to his estranged wife in Lenawee County. But police told the Free Press Saturday they had not been able to locate the woman, whom Skelton identified as Joann Taylor.

"We've exhausted our resources at this point," Morenci police Chief Larry Weeks said.

Skelton alleged had met Taylor and her husband a few years ago when they were having car trouble and had kept in touch with them via the Internet.
