Agents find tunnel, tons of pot

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency says it has found another drug-smuggling tunnel stretching from Tijuana, Mexico, to San Diego.

The half-mile-long, 90-foot-deep tunnel discovered Thursday ran between a Mexican eat-in kitchen and two warehouses across the border in California, CNN reported Friday.

Authorities took at least nine people into custody and seized between 20 and 30 tons of marijuana, the U.S. news network said.

"This is obviously not a Mom and Pop operation," Miguel Unzueta, an agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in San Diego, said Friday. "This is a major, significant drug cartel working."

The tunnel is close to a similar one federal agents found early this month. Agents seized about 30 tons of marijuana when that tunnel was discovered.
