NEW YORK, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Reality TV star and real estate tycoon Donald Trump said Thursday he is seriously considering running for president and will make his decision by June.
"I am thinking about things. And I'm looking at this country … and what's happened in terms of respect. And the respect for this country is just not there," Trump said. "I have many people from China that I do business with, they laugh at us. They feel we're fools. And almost being led by fools. And they can't believe what they're getting away with," Trump told George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "Good Morning America."
Trump said China is "getting away with murder" with the United States because the Asian country is manipulating U.S. currency, adding he would bring that to a halt, starting with addressing the price of oil and taxing China.
Even though China is the United States' banker, Trump said the United States still has control, ABC reported.
Trump said he would run as a Republican and indicated he could "very easily" spend more than $200 million on a self-funded campaign.
Trump said if poll figures are in his favor and if "the country continues to be taken advantage of by the world," he would run.
"Would I rather be in the race or not be in the race? I can tell you, I love what I'm doing. I'm having a great time what I'm doing. I'd rather not be in the race," Trump said. "But it could be fun because I'd like to see some positive things happen for the country."
Trump said of 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, "She's very interesting. And don't underestimate her. I mean, I see what she does. I would take her on. I like her, but I'd take her on."
Stephanopoulos reported Trump's special counsel, Michael Cohen, started a "Should Trump Run" Web site, unbeknownst to his boss. Visitors to the site can vote whether they think Trump should run for president.
