Woman lost in New Mexico wilderness

FARMINGTON, N.M., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- A 49-year-old New Mexican woman slept under sage bushes in territory owned by the Bureau of Land Management after her car went into a ditch, authorities said.

The woman spent two days wandering through BLM land before she managed to flag down a hunter on a main oil and gas field road that runs into Colorado, The (Farmington, N.M.) Daily Times reported.

Sheriff's Deputy Robert Tallman said the woman had tried to walk to her suburban Farmington home but became disoriented and got lost.

Authorities were withholding her name because she left home following a domestic dispute.

Her husband reported her missing Saturday.

The hunter that rescued her said she was dirty and shivering when she flagged him down.

"She just seemed to walk out of the bushes," Frederick Wolsleger told police.
