WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- A jogger testified she was attacked in Rock Creek Park by the same man accused of killing Washington intern Chandra Levy nine years ago.

Halle Shilling told jurors in Superior Court she was slowly jogging in the park when a "light-skinned Latino man" followed her and knocked her to the ground, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

Shilling said the man fled when she screamed.

"I felt as afraid and alone as I ever felt in my entire life," said Shilling, 39.

The incident occurred in May 2001, the same month that Levy disappeared.

The disappearance of the former federal prisons intern generated international headlines.

Shilling told the court she later learned her attacker was Ingmar Guandique, 29, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Levy whose remains were found in a remote area of the park.

Her testimony came following opening statements Monday.

Prosecutors said they don't have much physical evidence against Guandique so they plan to establish a pattern with Shilling's attack.
