Former D.A. sued over suggestive texts

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin woman has filed a lawsuit against a former prosecutor who sent her suggestive text messages after her boyfriend was charged with domestic violence.

Stephanie Van Groll reported the text messages from Ken Kratz -- who was Calumet County District Attorney at the time -- to the Kaukauna Police Department in October 2009. In the federal lawsuit filed Friday, Van Groll said she has since learned Kratz made advances to another women, the Appleton (Wis.) Post-Crescent reported.

Kratz, who had been district attorney for 18 years, resigned last week. He has not faced criminal charges or other official sanctions but Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said Kratz could face criminal charges, possibly including stalking, extortion, or public misconduct, WAOW.com reported.

Van Groll reported Kratz barraged her with texts, 30 in three days, including one that called her a "tall, young, hot nymph." In the complaint, she says her right to due process and equal protection was violated.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Milwaukee. The complaint alleges a pattern of misconduct, saying Kratz threatened a victim of domestic violence more than 10 years ago after she rejected his advances.

"Kratz's latest victim blew a whistle and no one listened," Van Groll's lawyer, Michael Fox, wrote. "This lawsuit will provide her with the hearing she never received."
