COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- An Ohio man allegedly forced a woman at gunpoint to drive to an abortion clinic and threatened to shoot her to cause a miscarriage, police said Thursday.
Dominic Holt-Reid, 27, appeared in municipal court in Columbus Thursday morning, a day after he was arrested outside the Founder's Women's Health Center, The Columbus Dispatch reported. A judge set bail at $500,000.
The charges include kidnapping and possession of a concealed handgun.
Irma Holmes, a Columbus police detective, testified Yolanda Burgess said Holt-Reid got a gun out of the glove compartment after they dropped off their son at nursery school. Holt-Reid allegedly ordered Burgess to drive to the clinic, saying he would shoot her if she did not.
Burgess was able to give a clinic employee a note saying she was there under duress, the report said. She was not hurt in the confrontation.
While the couple have a son together and Holt-Reid is believed to be the father of Burgess's unborn child, police said they have different addresses.
