GEORGETOWN, Colo., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- A Colorado man who was detained in Pakistan in what he said was a mission to get Osama bin Laden faces an assault charge at home.
Gary Faulkner, 51, was released from the Clear Creek County jail Wednesday without bail, a day after he was arrested, The Denver Post reported. He was charged with third-degree assault and domestic violence.
State troopers said that Faulkner was a passenger in a car driven by Jennifer Logie-Oliver, 51, that crashed Tuesday afternoon. Paramedics allegedly told officers Logie-Oliver, who appeared drunk, had injuries that had not been caused by the crash.
Logie-Oliver first told troopers the injuries were caused in the crash and then later said she fell down while she and Faulkner were walking, police reports said. Ambulance workers, however, said the two were fighting when they arrived.
Faulkner was arrested in Pakistan in June, equipped with a sword, dagger, gun and night-vision goggles. Pakistani investigators said he was trying to cross into Afghanistan.
