Man, 81, allegedly killed roommate, 94

SANTA ANA, Calif., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- An 81-year-old man used a clothes rod from a closet to kill his 94-year-old roommate at a California nursing home, police allege.

Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County sheriff's office, said William McDougall was arrested and could face a murder charge, the Los Angeles Times reported.

McDougall and the victim, Manh Ban Nguyen of Laguna Woods, shared a room at Palm Terrace Healthcare Center in Laguna Hills. Nguyen died from blows to the head in an assault about 11:20 p.m. Friday, Amormino said.

Investigators were trying to find a motive, he said.
