Hitler paintings to be auctioned in U.K.

LONDON, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- A recently uncovered group of paintings by Adolf Hitler could bring more than $230,000 when they are sold at auction later this month in England, experts said.

The paintings were discovered within a large estate in the north of Austria by an unnamed lawyer who bought the property, Britain's Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

The watercolor paintings of country scenes were all painted around 1908 when the future leader of Nazi Germany was a struggling artist.

Many large well-known auction houses refuse to deal with any art involving Hitler, Richard Westwood-Brookes of Mullocks Auctions said.

"Across many countries in Europe such as France and Austria you can't sell them by law as they believe it's glorifying Nazis," he said. "eBbay in those countries won't accept anything to do with him, so they have to be sold outside the countries," he added.

The auction will take place at Ludlow Racecourse, Shropshire, on Sept. 30.
