Ga. police chief in sex party allegation

ATLANTA, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Georgia officials say they've received anonymous letters alleging a town's police chief gave alcohol to an underage woman and held sex parties at his home.

A report filed with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office says the mayor and city manager of Chattahoochee Hills received letters claiming police chief Damon Jones provided alcohol to 19-year-old Hope Owens, a Chattahoochee firefighter, allowed Owens to get drunk in his home, and hosted sex parties with city employees at his home, WGCL-TV, Atlanta, reported Tuesday.

City manager Carol Wolfe said the city is taking the allegations seriously but since Chattahoochee Hills has not been notified of any official investigation, the chief remains on the job.

"It's not fair for anyone to jump to conclusions from an anonymous letter until facts are gathered," said Wolfe.

Jones has denied the allegations, WGCL-TV said.
