DETROIT, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- The father of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, in a deposition in a lawsuit brought by the parents of a slain dancer, called the woman's parents greedy.
Tamara Greene's parents are suing Kilpatrick, the city and the police department, alleging the investigation into her shooting death in 2003 was short-circuited -- and that the killing was linked to her performance at a party at the mayor's mansion the previous year.
Bernard Kilpatrick, now living in Fort Worth, Texas, missed an earlier date for a deposition, The Detroit News reported Wednesday. He described the deposition as "contentious," the Detroit Free Press said.
"They ask 20 questions and come back and ask the same questions later," he said.
He vigorously defended his son as he emerged. He called Greene's parents "greedy" and said the former mayor was "dedicated to the people of Detroit."
Kwame Kilpatrick is serving a state sentence for violation of probation and also faces federal charges. His father is also under investigation.
A state investigation concluded that Greene's supposed appearance at Manoogian Mansion, the mayor's official residence, was an "urban legend."
