Flint slash suspect eyed in Israel attacks

FLINT, Mich., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Michigan authorities said they were contacted by Interpol recently regarding the suspect in the alleged serial-stabbing deaths of five people in the Flint area.

A spokesman for the Genesee County Prosecutor's office told the Detroit Free Press that Interpol contacted them about Elias Abuelazam in connection with a non-fatal stabbing in Israel about six months ago as well as his possible role in other unsolved attack round his hometown of Ramle.

The Free Press said Saturday the specific stabbing in Israel involved an acquaintance of Abuelazam who has thus far refused to press charges.

Abuelazam was arrested in Atlanta earlier this week while attempting to board a flight to Tel Aviv. He was being held in Georgia Saturday for 14 stabbings in the Flint area and four similar attacks in Ohio and Virginia. Atlanta police say he will be extradited to Michigan in about two weeks.
