Feed the Children executive fired

OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A U.S. charity known for its heart-wrenching television commercials has fired a long-time executive, the daughter of the group's founder, officials say.

Officials at the Feed The Children charity confirmed Larri Sue Jones, 44, a lawyer and daughter of organization founder Larry Jones, was fired last month, The Oklahoman reported Monday.

Larri Jones was a senior vice president making $162,000 a year, charity records show.

Her dismissal is the latest executive shuffling at the Oklahoma City-based charity that reported donations of $1.19 billion in 2009, the Oklahoma City newspaper said.

Larry Jones was fired in November in a bitter dispute for control of the organization.

The firing of Larri Jones surprised many since she had sided with the charity's board of directors against her ousted father.

No explanation was given for her termination, and Larri Jones has made no comment.

The turmoil surrounding the charity has resulted in a dozen lawsuits and an investigation into allegations of financial wrongdoing by the state attorney general, The Oklahoman reported.
