DETROIT, July 27 (UPI) -- The battle over a supposed party at the Detroit mayor's mansion continues, with legal moves by the parents of a slain exotic dancer.
The family of Tamara Greene has sued the city, claiming that police failed to investigate her 2003 shooting death properly. They say she had performed at the mansion for then-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his guests.
Norman Yatooma, a lawyer representing the family, said he had obtained an affidavit from a motorcycle club member who said he provided security at the party, the Detroit Free Press. The biker also said Mike Cox, Michigan attorney general and a candidate for governor, was at the party.
While Wilson Kay Jr. gave Yatooma a sworn statement, he did not show up to give a deposition.
In the meantime, Kilpatrick's parents, seeking to avoid giving depositions, filed motions Sunday to quash subpoenas.
Kilpatrick is serving an 18-month to five-year term in Michigan for violation of probation. He is also under indictment on federal corruption charges.
