Woman arrested in Baltimore bank robberies

BALTIMORE, July 19 (UPI) -- Authorities say a woman who allegedly robbed seven Baltimore-area banks while using heavy makeup as a disguise was in custody Monday.

The makeup worn by Darion Randle 27, Landsdown, Md., was reportedly melting off her face Saturday when she was taken into custody after becoming trapped in the vestibule of a Madison Bank branch in Baltimore.

The FBI told the Baltimore Sun a quick-thinking teller pushed an alarm switch that slammed the two doors in front of Randle and behind her as she allegedly tried to make her getaway.

Special Agent Richard Wolf said Randle was "extremely agitated" by the time police arrived. "She tried to bang the glass off," he said. "She pulled some weather-stripping. Her makeup was running because of the heat, and there was a lot of makeup."

The Sun said Randle was believed to have robbed six banks this month while wearing disguises that included a long black wig and a Muslim head covering.
