Hospitalization delays death-camp trial

MUNICH, Germany, June 29 (UPI) -- The trial of a former Ohio autoworker alleged to have been a guard at a Nazi death camp is on hold while the defendant is hospitalized, authorities say.

John Demjanjuk, 90, was deported to Germany from the United States in 2009 to face 28,000 counts of accessory to murder during his alleged time as a guard at the Sobibor death camp during World War II, WEWS-TV, Cleveland, reported Tuesday.

Demjanjuk has denied any involvement.

Demjanjuk has various health problems and was taken to a Munich hospital for a blood transfusion, officials said.

His trial, which began last November, has been interrupted eight times for health reasons, WEWS-TV reported.
