Pot plants lead to Chicago arrest

CHICAGO, June 25 (UPI) -- Chicago police say they have made an arrest after finding 1,400 marijuana plants on an embankment along MetraRail tracks near U.S. Cellular Field.

No arrest details were available and the plants found on the embankment at West 35th and South LaSalle streets along Metra's Rock Island District line were removed, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday.

More marijuana plants were found on a part of the property owned by the city of Chicago, said Metra spokeswoman Judy Pardonnet.

Some of the plants were more than 4 feet high.

The growers "were pretty strategic in planting weeds around (the plants), because they were pretty well-camouflaged," Pardonnet said.
