Who needs Hayward?, says Gulf Coast mayor

GRAND ISLAND, La., June 20 (UPI) -- A mayor on the front lines of Louisiana's oil invasion says British Petroleum CEO Tony Hayward may as well stick to yacht racing in England.

"Maybe he just needs to stay over there and send the money, and we'll take care of business," Grand Isle Mayor David Camardelle told CBS News after hearing reports that Hayward as spotted sailing in a race around the Isle of Wright this weekend.

"We are all going to work together, and we're going to fight this in Louisiana," said Camardelle.

Grand Island is a critical location on the Gulf Coast. CBS said the community generates about a third of the revenue of Louisiana's seafood industry. A mile-long line of barges was being anchored over the weekend to keep crude from drifting into Barataria Bay.

The BP offshore well blowout continued to gush oil Sunday and was choking off the seafood industry. CBS said Louisiana oysters were disappearing from the market and prices for other seafood were on the rise.
