ORLANDO, Fla., June 1 (UPI) -- Casey Anthony, accused of murdering her daughter Caylee, was hurt in a courthouse fall Tuesday and missed a hearing in her case, officials said.
The Orlando Sentinel reported a jailer said Anthony was hurt when her restraints became tangled and officers couldn't catch her before she tumbled. She was treated at an undisclosed location but her injuries appeared minor, the newspaper said.
Anthony's attorney waived her right to be at the hearing. During the subsequent 2-hour session at the Orange County Courthouse, her attorneys and prosecutors argued various issues, including the death penalty, the Sentinel said.
The 24-year-old woman is charged with first-degree murder in the 2008 death of her toddler daughter, whose remains were found six months after Anthony said she last saw her alive.
Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry denied most of the defense's requests, including one that prosecutors provide more information about why they are seeking the death penalty.
The judge took under advisement a defense request to seal public records of who is visiting Anthony in jail
He also denied defense requests for the recorded interview of Joe Jordan, a volunteer searcher who illegally recorded a conversation he had with a defense investigator without the investigator's consent; access to grand jury testimony of Anthony's father; and for the state to provide certain forensic evidence her lawyers seek as part of the discovery process.
