Teacher accused of berating students

ALBUQUERQUE, May 19 (UPI) -- A teacher in Albuquerque, N.M., allegedly swore at and berated students repeatedly in a class for teenagers struggling with math, a student's mother said.

Jessica Kruse secretly was recorded on a cellphone in January and the message played for West Mesa principal Blanca Lopez, said Lucrecia Chavez, whose son made the recording.

Kruse stopped insulting her students when a second teacher was placed in the classroom, but later resume her alleged tirades, said Chavez, whose son was suspended for the remainder of the school year because he refused to return to the high school.

Lopez Monday told KOAT-TV, Albuquerque, she had discussed the issue with Kruse, who remains employed at the school, the Albuquerque Journal reported Wednesday.

Kruse could not be reached for comment.
