Ohio man arrested in homeless beating

CINCINNATI, April 27 (UPI) -- A 24-year-old Norwood, Ohio, man has been charged in the gang beating of a homeless man in Cincinnati, authorities said.

Michael Hesson was arrested Monday and charged with felonious assault for the April 10 attack by four men on a homeless encampment, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Tuesday.

The men beat John Johnson, 52, with baseball bats and a metal pipe, cutting Johnson's head and severely bruising his arms, torso, back and face.

Hesson's arrest came several days after police and the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless appealed to the public for help in finding the suspects.

"This beating was brought on for no reason," police said in court records.

The three other suspects had yet to be located.
