3 bodies found in Miami house

MIAMI, April 14 (UPI) -- Investigators in Miami were trying to determine Wednesday how three people whose bodies were found in a house died.

The bodies were discovered Tuesday morning by neighbors who noticed a foul smell coming from the duplex in the Model City neighborhood, the Miami Herald reported. They opened the door and saw a man's body before calling police.

Police said they were unsure if the three, said to be a man and two women, had been legal tenants in the house or had been squatting in it. Both water and electricity had been shut off and the house looked like it was abandoned.

The bodies were decomposed, and no cause of death had been determined Wednesday.

At least one former neighbor said the three were a family who had lived in the house for some time.

"We all got evicted, but they told me they weren't going to leave," Jessica Sturrup told the Herald.

Sturrup said the father had been dismissed from a job at Winn-Dixie.

Tethine Strozier, who lives on the same street, said he used to see the three walking and arguing. But he said he had not spotted them for about two months.
