DETROIT, April 13 (UPI) -- A Detroit judge has ordered political consultant Sam Riddle jailed for violating a court order to stay away from his ex-girlfriend.
Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Gregory Bill ruled Tuesday that Riddle had violated conditions of the bond that had allowed him to remain free in his pending domestic violence case.
Riddle's lawyer argued unsuccessfully that the telephone call between Riddle and Mary Waters was very brief and dealt solely with the federal bribery charges the two of them face, the Detroit Free Press said.
Bill also ordered Waters to appear before him Wednesday to discuss the call, which she had placed. Water has accused Riddle of threatening her with a shotgun over an apparent lover's triangle.
The Detroit News said Waters was in court and left after the hearing without comment.
