DETROIT, April 9 (UPI) -- A transcript of a planned speech by Hutaree militia leader David Stone calling for war on the New World Order was filed this week in federal court in Detroit.
Stone never delivered the speech in public because heavy snow prevented him from getting to a February meeting in Kentucky, the Detroit Free Press reported. But he practiced it in the car before the trip was canceled, apparently at the instigation of an undercover federal agent who secretly recorded it.
The transcript shows a man identified only as "other individual" urging Stone to try out his speech before a "captive audience" and turning the car radio down.
In his speech, Stone suggested most U.S. citizens are waiting for something like the Hutaree militia to come forward and take back the federal government.
"We outnumber them," Stone said, apparently referring to federal employees. "They forget they live in our neighborhoods. They shop at our grocery stores. They eat at our restaurants. We
are the ones who control everything in this nation from preparing the food that they eat to running the power stations."
William Swor, Stone's lawyer, said his client was exercising his right "to criticize the government."
Stone and eight of his followers, including his wife and son, were arrested last month and charged with a plot to kill a police officer and then set off a bomb during the funeral. The group was based in a rural area in Michigan.
