Clinton heads to Moscow for Mideast talks

WASHINGTON, March 15 (UPI) -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will go to Moscow for a four-entity meeting on Middle East peace, the State Department said Monday.

Clinton and U.S Special Envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell will meet Thursday and Friday with Quartet on the Middle East representatives U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon; Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov; and European Union high representative Catherine Ashton, the department said in a release. Quartet Representative Tony Blair, the former British prime minister, also will be in Moscow.

While in Moscow, Clinton also will meet with senior Russian officials to discuss progress on a successor agreement to the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, cooperation on non-proliferation, counter-terrorism, security issues and the work of the Bilateral Presidential Commission.
