STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 13 (UPI) -- Three of seven suspects arrested in Ireland for an alleged murder plot against a Swedish artist who drew a Mohammed cartoon have been freed, officials say.

Swedish artist Lars Vilks drew the Prophet Mohammed with the body of a dog 2 1/2 years ago, outraging many Muslims, Sveriges (Sweden) Radio said.

Irish police told the Tidningarnas Telegrambyra news agency the three suspects, two women and a man, could still face charges. Three men and a woman remain in custody, the radio reported, but the prosecution must decide by Tuesday whether to charge them.

The Wall Street Journal said one of the seven suspects is a U.S. woman.

Earlier this week, another U.S. woman, Colleen LaRose, was indicted in an alleged plot to kill a Swedish citizen and traveling to Europe for that purpose. LaRose is also known as "JihadJane."

Though the U.S. Justice Department declined to say if LaRose was connected to the alleged Vilks plot, Irish police confirmed there were links between her and the seven arrested in Ireland, the radio report said.
