100 pics found in serial killer's storage

SANTA ANA, Calif., March 12 (UPI) -- California officials say they released more than 100 photos of women and children found in storage owned by a former "Dating Game" contestant and serial killer.

Police are trying to find out if some of the unidentified people, including a few men, in the pictures were victims of Rodney Alcala, 66, CNN reported. Alcala was convicted in Santa Ana, Calif., in February of murdering a child and four women between 1977 and 1979, and this week was sentenced to death by a jury.

Orange County, Calif., District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said in a statement, "We balanced the privacy concerns of those depicted in the decision to release these pictures. Although we hope that the people depicted are not victims, we believe the release may help solve some cold cases and bring closure to victims' families."

Anyone with information on the identities of the people in the photos is asked to contact Huntington Beach (Calif.) Police at 714-375-5066 or the Orange County District Attorney's Office at 714-347-8492, CNN said.

Alcala appeared on "The Dating Game" in 1988, and contestant Cheryl Bradshaw chose him as her date but eventually refused to go out with him, CNN reported.

Bachelor No. 2 on the show, Jed Mills, told CNN he had an almost immediate dislike for Alcala.

"Something about him, I could not be near him," Mills said. "He was very obnoxious and creepy."
