WASHINGTON, March 10 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama welcomes Haitian President Rene Preval to the Oval Office Wednesday, the second day of Preval's trip to Washington.
After meeting behind closed doors, Obama and Preval will make statements to the public in the Rose Garden, the White House said. Expected to attend the event will be congressional members, representatives of non-governmental organizations and foundations involved in the relief effort after the 7-magnitude struck Haiti Jan 12, leaders of the Haitian-American community leaders and U.S. government personnel who served in Haiti in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake.
In the afternoon, Obama travels to St. Louis, where he will deliver remarks on health reform at St. Charles High School.
While in St. Louis, Obama will speak at a fundraising dinner for Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo. Later, he will speak at a grassroots fundraising reception for McCaskill.
