N. Korea issues more threats

SEOUL, March 9 (UPI) -- North Korea, denouncing the South Korean-U.S. military drill, Tuesday vowed to bolster its nuclear capability while also saying it is ready for dialogue or war.

South Korea and the United States began their 11-day joint military exercise code named "Key Resolve/Foal Eagle" Monday, drawing sharp criticism from the Communist country, which sees the drill as attack preparations although no such attack has occurred following similar exercises.

A North Korea Foreign Ministry spokesman said his government "is fully ready for dialogue and war," the official Korean Central News Agency said. "It will continue bolstering up its nuclear deterrent as long as the U.S. military threats and provocations go on."

North Korea Monday asked its troops to be ready to "reliably defend the outposts of the country so as to repel at a single stroke any attempt of the aggressors to make a pre-emptive strike."
