CAMDEN, N.J., March 9 (UPI) -- Five people including a 14-year-old girl have been charged in a Camden, N.J., double homicide police are calling gang-related, authorities said.
Authorities allege the suspects were part of a group of at least 10 who stabbed and shot Michael Hawkings, 23, and his girlfriend Muriah Ashley Huff, 18, on Feb. 22 and buried the victims in the back yard of a Camden house, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday.
Dennis Welch, 19, was arraigned last week on charges of murdering Hawkins. Police say they are seeking at least four more suspects.
"If there are people who did not participate in the killings, but might have covered up the crime in any way," Camden County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Jason Laughlin said, "that would be part of our ongoing investigation."
Law enforcement sources allege Hawking and Huff were killed in a dispute between the Bloods and Crips gangs, the Inquirer reported.
Hawkins was a known member of the Crips, a classmate of Huffs said.
"Everybody that knew she was dating him knew that he was in the gang," Michal Ramos said.
