WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Millennials, the U.S. generation ages 18 to 29, are confident even though they have been hit by the worst recession in decades, a survey reports.
The generation is also the most politically liberal one, the Pew Research Center said.
While 37 percent report being currently unemployed or not in the workforce, 90 percent say either that they have enough money now or expect to be financially secure in the future. About one in six said they had moved back in with parents because of the economy.
Only 60 percent were raised in two-parent households. While Millennials as a group place a high value on marriage and family, only 21 percent are currently married -- half the percentage in their parents' generation at the same age.
They can also be both adventurous and cautious. While almost 40 percent have tattoos, 90 percent say their body art is placed where it is normally hidden by clothing.
Most of the report was based on a telephone survey of 2,020 adults, with an oversample of Millennials, between Jan. 14 and Jan. 27. The margin of error is 3 percentage points for the entire group.
