Young: Found Edwards sex tape

WASHINGTON, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Andrew Young, longtime aide to John Edwards, said he was given the job of trying to convince the former U.S. senator's mistress to have an abortion.

Young and his wife, Cheri, in an interview with ABC News, also said they found what appeared to be a sex tape made by Edwards and Rielle Hunter while she was "visibly pregnant." They said they made the discovery while cleaning out their house to prepare it for sale.

"It's amazing the tape exists. ... But to leave it in a house that's for sale -- where Realtors are going to be coming through it -- and leave it there for eight months -- is unbelievable," Young said.

The tape was made shortly before the Iowa presidential caucuses, Young said.

Young claimed for months, at Edwards' request, to be the father of Hunter's child. Edwards only admitted this month the child, now 2, is his.

Edwards was furious when he learned Hunter was pregnant, said there was only a one-in-three chance he was the father and sent Young to talk Hunter into an abortion, Young claimed. Edwards called Hunter "a weird slut and a freak," Young claimed.

Young's interview is to be aired on "Nightline" and "20/20."

Edwards, who represented North Carolina in the Senate for one term, ran for the Democratic presidential nomination and ran as the Democratic vice presidential candidate in 2004, has separated from his wife, Elizabeth.
