Anna Kournikova's mom faces charges

PALM BEACH, Calif., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- The mother of tennis star Anna Kournikova is facing charges of child neglect in Florida after allegedly leaving her 5-year-old son home alone, police said.

Palm Beach officers called Alla Kournikova, 46, Tuesday after a passerby found the youngster soaking wet after he apparently jumped out of a second-story window and then into a swimming pool.

Investigators told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel she had locked the boy in the house for about an hour after he refused to accompany her on a trip to the bank.

The newspaper said Wednesday the child, whose name was not released, suffered bruises to his feet and back in the 15-foot drop to the ground.
