Explosives found in Indianapolis home

INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Indianapolis police said military-style explosives were found and removed from a local home where a woman's body had been found.

Sgt. Paul Thompson of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Saturday's discovery of the explosives inside the home came as officers searched the home via a search warrant, The Indianapolis Star reported Sunday.

In addition to multiple firearms, officers discovered 21 military-style 40mm projectiles in the home.

"There are certain materials you can possess, but you need permits from the (U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives)," Thompson said of the discovered weaponry.

Richard Jacks, whose 54-year-old wife Donna was discovered dead in the home Friday, was arrested and charged with 21 felony counts of possession of a destructive device.

Authorities would not confirm if the death of Donna Jacks was the result of a homicide or an accident, the Star said. Her body was discovered in the home after Richard Jacks, 56, told a 911 dispatcher his wife was unresponsive.
