Husband of missing woman to leave Utah

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Joshua Powell, a "person of interest" in the disappearance of his wife, is planning to leave Utah for a gated community in Washington, a former friend says.

Tim Peterson told The Salt Lake Tribune he ended up in a confrontation Wednesday with Powell's brother when he drove to the Powell home to retrieve a playground set he lent the couple. Joshua Powell was not at the house.

Powell plans to move to Puyallup, Wash., to live in a gated community with his father, Peterson said.

Susan Powell disappeared in early December. Her husband told police she was gone when he returned from a short camping trip with their two young sons.

Peterson said Michael Powell refused to let him have the playground set without clearance from his brother and then called police. Peterson left after talking to police.

"I said, this playground was for Susan and the kids and for their enjoyment. I said, she's not here anymore and you guys don't appear to be looking for her. So just in case you haven't noticed, Susan's gone," Peterson told the Tribune, describing his end of the conversation..
