Body in Florida trash bin is identified

MIAMI, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- A body found burning in a Florida trash bin has been identified through dental records as that of a visiting tourist from California, authorities said.

Paula Sladeweski, 26, was visiting Miami Beach with her boyfriend, who had reported her missing, The Miami Herald reported Wednesday.

Firefighters were alerted Sunday evening to the blazing trash bin, and after putting the fire out found the body burned beyond recognition, the newspaper said. There was nothing but the body in the bin.

Her boyfriend, whose name has not been released, told police the two got into an argument over the weekend at a local nightclub where he left her, the Herald reported.

Sladewski's stepfather, Richard Watkins, said the couple, who lived in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., fought often and had a "very volatile" relationship.

Police interviewed the boyfriend Tuesday, calling him a "person of interest," the Herald said.

Sladewski's body will be flown back to Michigan, where the family says they are waiting for answers.

"It's been real hard,'' Watkins said. "I didn't know this many tears could fall."
