Reunited father, son together for holiday

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 25 (UPI) -- David Goldman and his 9-year-old son, Sean, plan on spending the holiday together at Disney World after being reunited in Brazil, a family friend says.

Goldman and his son arrived in Orlando, Fla., Thursday night after being reunited at the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro following a five-year separation, CNN reported Friday.

Goldman's wife, Bruna Bianchi, relocated from New Jersey to Brazil with her son in 2004 as part of what was supposed to be a two-week vacation.

Bianchi never returned to the United States with the child, choosing instead to remarry and live among her family in the South American country.

While Bianchi died in childbirth in 2008, Goldman was forced to battle his wife's family for custody of his son.

That battle ended Tuesday when Brazilian Supreme Court Chief Justice Gilmar Mendes ruled in favor of Goldman, CNN said.

U.S. Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., said he was on hand when Goldman and his son enjoyed a happy reunion Thursday.

"They talked about basketball, the snowfall in New Jersey just recently and how much fun it is to play in the snow," Smith told CNN.
