RACINE, Wis., Dec. 18 (UPI) -- The former mayor of Racine, Wis., has agreed to plead guilty to sex charges, court documents say.

A pretrial hearing scheduled for Thursday was canceled, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. Court records said Gary Becker is scheduled instead to appear at a plea hearing Thursday.

Becker, 52, resigned as mayor after he was charged in January. He was in his second term.

Investigators say Becker engaged in a sexual conversation with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl and arranged a meeting with her. The "teenager" was actually an investigator with the state Internet Crimes Task Force.

Becker was also charged with possession of child pornography because of items found on his computer.

In addition to losing his position as mayor, Becker lost his marriage when his wife divorced him. He has two daughters.
