CAMDEN, N.J., Dec. 15 (UPI) -- A convicted burglar likened to Houdini and Spider Man has been sentenced to three years in prison for a string of crimes in New Jersey, authorities said.

Taleon Goffney, 27, was sentenced Monday in Camden County Court. He also must serve at least two years for burglaries committed in Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday.

Goffney, who also has appeared in porn films, masterminded a burglary ring that stretched to Alabama, Georgia and Florida, authorities said, noting Goffney was known for sawing through the roofs of businesses and sliding down a wire.

"He's like Houdini," defense lawyer Jeffry Zucker told the Inquirer. Goffney was nicknamed Spider Man by law enforcement officials who created a 30-officer task force to catch him.

"I just want to apologize for my past actions, and I won't be continuing that lifestyle any more," Goffney Monday told Superior Court Judge Samuel Natal.
