WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- A friend of missing Utah resident Susan Powell said "hope" regarding the safe return of the mother-of-two is running out.
ABC's "Good Morning America" reported Monday that Kiirsi Helliwell voiced concerns regarding her 28-year-old best friend, who was last seen in Dec. 6 in West Valley City, Utah.
"She's been gone for an entire week. I don't believe there can be any, very much hope left," Helliwell said. "I'm trying to stay busy and not think about it. But I don't see how there's any way she can still be alive."
Powell's husband, Joshua, maintains he took his two sons camping the night of his wife's disappearance.
"Lots of times I just go camping with my boys," insisted Joshua Powell, who returned home with his kids last Monday. "Just overnight."
Police could not confirm Joshua Powell's camping trip claim because snowfall covered up evidence at the site where he maintains he camped out with his sons.
Helliwell insists her friend would not simply disappear, "Good Morning America" reported.
"She would never leave her children, and she would never leave without contacting anybody," she said.
