Ex-Boy Scout leader in sex case released

BELLEVILLE, Ill., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A 39-year-old Illinois woman is free on bail after being charged with having sex with a 15-year-old member of her Boy Scout troop, authorities say.

St. Clair County Sheriff's Capt. Steve Johnson said Wendy Rogers' husband posted 10 percent of her $100,000 bail to free her from jail Wednesday, the Belleville (Ill.) News-Democrat reported Friday.

The O'Fallon woman was arrested last Sunday after the boys' parents allegedly came home and found them in bed together.

Boy Scout Troop 35 relieved Rogers of her leadership duties following her arrest. Police said Rogers is not suspected of having inappropriate relations with other members of her troop, identified only as John Doe in court papers.

The News-Democrat said Rogers will remain free on bail, pending trial on charges of criminal sexual assault.
